Big Brother

Gavin loved Emma from their first meeting - he calls her Gemma.  He is gentle and loving, constantly asking if she is okay when she cries ("K, Gemma?), always willing to help, and cuddling with her whenever possible.  We couldn't have asked for a better reception from a 2 year old brother to a new sister. 

Emma gave Gavin a Mickey Mouse toy to say hello.

Baby Sister

On Friday, March 29, 2013 at 1:27 a.m., we welcomed Gavin's baby sister, Emma Solveig, into the world.  She is 7 pounds, 1 ounce and 19 3/4 inches long.  Katie's water broke at home at 9:40 p.m. resulting in Jeff running around the house trying to get all needed supplies ready to go.  He calls this "organized chaos" though Katie might have a different term for it.  After dropping a sleepy Gavin and bewildered Simba at the Young's house, it was off to the hospital with no time to spare.  From water breaking to delivery was less than 4 hours!  Emma is showing to be a calm, quiet baby; quite the opposite of her big brother!
